To All Returning Players... Getting Started

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 09:50 AM PDT

    Howdy fellow Returners!

I have recently returned to give ArcheAge 5.3 another go. It's been pretty good so far. I still see more coming back and checking in here and there if it's a game worth returning to.

It's going to come down to just downloading it and giving it another try. (Cryy has also posted a few good vids on YT about his experiences.) Don't take someone else's opinion on the game. Things have changed and maybe its enough for you to enjoy it.

WARNING! If you have been away for years, like me, you will get labeled an Alt! Don't let it get to you, it's your GS (gear score). There is an epidemic as of late with players joining events with their alts and sitting around doing jack shit. Just announce you are a returning player and any player not a glass licker will understand and be glad you are coming back!

There are still shitty toxic players but I don't think they're the majority. They just make the most noise, so ignore them. There are a lot of helpful players/guilds still around, even from the early days (shout out to Cult of the Kraken).

Just about all builds out there on the web or the ones you remember either don't work or need reworking. Skill sets have gotten a major overhaul, for better or worse. Max skill set level is 55 with a new skill set called Malediction. Character levels go to 55 then have Ancestral levels up to 34.

One of the first things you will want to do when you log in and manage your inventory. Some items are no longer useful and are either vendor trash or can be converted into other useful items (it should tell you in the item's description). Don't trash Obsidian gear (the mats can be though).

Gearing up has changed with the Hiram gear. Much like the Auroria Cloaks, you get items to feed the gear and it levels up. You can also feed it your old Obsidian gear. If you are a returning player you probably have some freebies waiting in your account. Simply login to your account page at https://archeage.trionworlds.com and where you can buy packages there should be some for 0 credits. Grab those and send them to your favorite character but know that these items will be bound to that character. Cryy has a nice lil guide for this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvYcSlCLJrQ

To get the items to upgrade your Hiram gear you will need to do your dailies. Three can be found in the cash shop under rewards > gold. The 3 envelopes for 0 gold can be purchased once per day PER ACCOUNT. Buy them, get them from the cash shop mail and then use them to trigger the quest. Then you will want to grab the one daily at Hiram Cave then the two located at Illusion Cave, both in the new Western Hiram Mountains zone.

Now, I'm no expert. I've only started back up about a week ago. I just wanted to share what I've learned thus far. If anything I shared is wrong or could use clarification, please reply.

From one Returner to another, welcome back and good hunting!

    Question concerning attack speed

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 03:01 PM PDT

Is there a base amount of attack speed which is desirable? Something that makes a huge impact concerning skill cooldown for example? At the moment i run a dual wielding melee dps with pure dmg gems and i wonder if gemming pure dmg was a mistake. Most people seem to run pure att speed on undergarments and instrument. Thank you for your opinions on this topic.

Anyone who has an alt that doesn't use anymore? (Aria)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 03:58 PM PDT

Well I just returned from the game, not because of the hiram. But I'm planning to be a farmer again and with extra alts it will be more helpful in my part. Hopefully I didn't violate any rules in the reddit about this post. Thank you

It will be awesome if it has a decent farming/gathering prof but I'll take nonetheless

Any plan of game owner ( don’t remember te name) to add more land?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:50 PM PDT

Hello, i am a returning player, just got my patron back and I have been looking for land in all places, and well besides some random 8x8 spaces there is no space to build anything ( primarily a house).

Does anyone knows if there is any plan to add more land? Or my only options are snipe some or buy it from someone else

    Some fishing questions

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 01:43 PM PDT

I am a returning player, been playing for the past week or two and just hit 4k equipment points. Looking for something I can do outside of dailies and grinding for Hiram gear that will make me a little extra money. I have always wanted to get a fishing boat and just sport fish in the ocean all day but i'm not sure if it's worth the investment.

    1. Where are the most popular ocean fishing spots?
    2. Are there spots that aren't as good but are a little bit safer for people with not as much gear?
    3. is a fishing boat worth the investment?
    4. How hard is fishing on your labor?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. I love being on the water in this game and I don't have the gear to compete against other people yet but I still want to find a way to be out there and make some gold. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Noob melee gearing advice (crit chance vs attack speed)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 01:43 PM PDT

I've asked around a lot in game and decided to go 2h, playing Bloodreaver atm. I've talked to players on the ranking leaderboards about their gear, and some people said they preferred attack speed on their weapon because they have enough crit chance, but a lot of them aren't wearing Hiram armor.. which is probably what I'll be wearing. Right now I have a T2 Longspear with str, crit dmg, and atk speed, with a couple rerolls available but I'm still not sure what to do. I was able to get 79% crit chance on archeagecalculator with attack speed on the weapon for a total of 490 atk speed, but not a lot of defense penetration.. although this is with accessories that are probably unrealistic for me. I've heard a couple streamers such as Kooncoon bring up how some of the best players are going attack speed/def pen as well, while also saying 2h sucks.. so I'm just confused at this point. I'd appreciate some input, because I'm not really sure how to go forward. Thanks!

    Question About Classes/Builds

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 09:45 AM PDT

Hello all, I am a new player that just started playing the game a few days ago and bought Patron yesterday . For MMO's I have about 8 years played in WoW and making the change to Archeage has been quite different... A quick question about classes, I am currently playing a Blighter (Battlerage, Defense, Shadowplay) and from what I have read its not really "meta" does anyone have some advice on a class to play? I enjoy the DPS play style and preferably with wearing Plate. I am in NA on the freshstart server Nui... If anyone has any sort of advice would help a ton!

    (Returning EU) Characters actually gone

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:14 AM PDT

    Hey Archeageians :)

As the title implies I am a potential returning player on the EU servers. I last played back in 2015, but as so many others quit when it was obvious the game went full P2W.

I logged in again last night and the only character I see is a level 10, while I did have a cap'ed out character at the time. I have confirmed that I have logged in with the correct account, I see I have paied X amount of months of Patron on it. Also checked that my characters aren't on any other regional servers.

So.. of course I have created a support ticket. Guess my question is if anyone else experienced this? Any idea how fast the support is? For the time being I am making a new char, but not tempting to pay for Patron again untill I get my original chars back.

    Making money with vocation badges

    Maybe returning?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:02 AM PDT

Yeah yeah, another returning player message thing.

So uh, i quit a couple years ago now, before 3.0 hit. I remember being part of one of those server hopping guilds who wasn't top of the line, but good enough to be top server guild until one of the big guys came in. I remember specifically quitting during a period where our guild hopped onto Ollo, just before Disaster hopped away in search of bigger game. We trained with them a couple times, it was fun.

But i remember after that...the tedious grind..the pack running from Hellswamp to Solzreed for hours on end, every day, for peanut pay. Grinding library earring....breaking my Warrior Necklace over and over...at one point i couldn't take it anymore. I want to play a game for fun, not have a second job, which doesn't even feel like i progress because everything is locked behind rng walls.

I heard recently that the game has gotten better. What i want is an honest answer: Am i still going to be a sack of shit vs p2w players and will have to grind my life away to be able to live beyond 2 hits, or can i actually enjoy pvp a bit more now? Beyond the gear discrepancy, pvp was fun when you were evenly matched.

Edit: I gave everything i owned to guild members before i quit, and broke everything i couldnt with regrades. So except for untradeable stuff, im a hobo. On a scale of 1-10, how fucked?

State of Kadum/Aria population & faction wise?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:31 AM PDT

Trying to figure out which server to return too. I would prefer to be on the server that is more alive and as close to 33/33/33 nui/haranya/pirate if possible. I don't really enjoy one sided free farmed servers.

Also is there any resources for updated builds? Malediction is new to me, and it would seem a lot of the skills have been moved around in skill trees.

    Thanks in advance.

    How to jump back in?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 07:02 PM PDT

So I'm returning from two years ago, my character is level 30 and severely under geared, everything hurts so much. I also foolishly at the time apparently picked random classes because I'm rocking archery>auromancy>and some melee thing that isn't useful.

I would love to start a new character so everything is a fresh slate and I can relearn, however I foolishly applied the welcome back gifts containing the Hiram gear to this character so now I'm stuck with him.

Basically I know I need to reroll and relevel my class, but I'm confused as to which things to pick now, since I have to regear. I just want to be able to survive and don't mind continuing with archery. But winery can I go get better gear to actually have a chance? I only have 5 gold so it's not like I can go buy everything. To be honest my end goal is just to get to 55 and then focus on crafting and gathering since I love those parts of games I play, is that even viable to do in this game? Avoid combat, sort of like Runescape?
