Archeage unchained is 7 euros on steam. Is it worth it?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 11:41 AM PDT

Hi! I'm thinking of buying this game, but I'm not sure if I should. I know the game is now owned by gamigo, and gamigo sucks, but is the game bad?

All I hear is the game is dead, but is the experience of playing the game any good? What makes it bad?

    Appreciate any input.

Fixed Crashing at Load. (AA:U but maybe works for the classic flavor)

This is for the crash that occurs right after the splash screen with the poem that lights up as the game loads. Game runs through the poem and it goes black but looks like the UI is loading (cursor shows up) and then it drops to desktop. Had this on three different separate installs (2 laptops and one desktop).

If you're having this problem you have likely tried every goddamn thing that's been posted. You've set every conceivable executable to admin privilege. You've edited or created a config.sys or system.cfg or whatever and told it to use DX9 or to run without the opening cinematic or whatever. None of it has helped.

At this point if someone were to suggest stuffing a thumbdrive down your pee-hole you would consider it just to know if it would work.

So... grab a thumbdrive... just kidding, the fix is actually pretty painless. Credit goes to my wife who figured this out long after I had given up and resigned myself to waiting for LostArk.

    1. Uninstall the game completely. Delete everything. Run full PC searches for archeage.exe and other related files to find any hidden installation and file locations and remove every trace of the game.
    2. Install the game using Steam. It will download like 19Gb worth of game files.
    3. When you bring up your Steam library and click [Play} it will run the Glyph loader. The Glyph loader will say it needs to install. If you just follow the directions it will begin downloading another 19GB of game files. It's actually installing the game again in a second location. I don't know why or how but this is the problem.
    4. When Steam loads the Glyph launcher for the first time, instead of just clicking along wherever Glyph tells you to, like a sheep, watch closely. It will come up with an install directory that is different than the one Steam used. At this stage you need to tell it to use the directory that Steam used. You should be able to just brows to that directory and click ok.
    5. Now, instead of loading 19Gb of game files, it only loads like a Gb or so. And once that is done, the game will load correctly... probably... I mean, it did for me.

If you did all of that and it still didn't work ...

    1. Look for the slimmest thumbdrive you can find...
