    What necklace to go for?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:31 AM PST

I'm only 7,6k gs EBonsong and my accessories are still pretty bad, so I decided to do something about it. Was lucky with Noryette finally and now I'm looking to make a necklace. My guildies are running and recommend the lightning necklace, which is the one I see on many people too. Some have the evernight one as well ( I hate honor farming though). I'm just wondering what you all think?

    All dailies reset?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 11:32 AM PST

So this has happened twice to me now, where sometime between RD and halcy all of my dailies get reset. I have no idea how to replicate it, but it's scary to think that someone or a group of people do as they could be getting double or more faster progression on hiram, library gear etc...

Whats your favorite melee class for PvP?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:14 AM PST

I hear this game has open world PVP and I always play MMORPGs for the PvP content.

I also hear this game has alot of different classes, but I prefer playing melee classes. Whats your favorite class for some melee PvP? Can you give me some PROs and CONs? Or just recommend something that will knock the shit outta someone real quick? I dont mind being semi squishy.

Fresh start new player - class questions

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 08:25 AM PST

    TL;DR version:

I'm a veteran of MMO's and I'd like to know what the meta is as far as what's the top dps in pve content and what's the best overall class in PVP content (1v1, "arena" if that exists, and wide-scale pvp).

I've been drawn to an archer looking class, but I'm also super into something with a big 2handed axe perhaps, or something along a 2h melee class. Any quick suggestions for me to look at?

Also, does PVE exist? (Dungeons, Raids)

Can I play this game without spending any money?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 08:57 AM PST

I've found recently that this game is very "pay to win" nowadays, I don't remember that when I played right when it was released, my question is, can play this game only for the history? Just casual? Or I will get a hard time to complete and reach end-game due to the pay to win system?

Question regarding mdef pen vs crit

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 09:30 PM PST

Hey guys, as someone who does pvp and pve regularly I've been thinking of switching from crit damage to magic defence penetration. I read def pen is better for pvp but nobody ever talks about pve. How much would my damage go down in pve if I were to switch? And is it worth to switch at all? Thanks!

    A Case Against Purpling

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 10:17 PM PST

For those who may not know what purpling is, those would be people who haven't played Archeage, its best liken to the act of going rogue. You enable "bloodlust" which allows you to be attacked but also allows you to attack others of the same faction. The downside to this act is that it can incur crime points that can land you on trial or in jail.

Purpling has happened on every server and as long as I have played Archeage. It is a mechanic that people have used to settle disputes but mostly it is IMO a grief tactic that is officially sanctioned by the game. You don't like, find a new game right?

While I have never been a fan of it, it does have some very specific uses. It, for example, can be used to remove a person who is blocking you with a vehicle or following you around and annoying you with disruptive gameplay. In other words, it is ironically a tool that allows you recourse when somebody is already griefing you.

What instead has happened is those who are prone to grief other players simply added it has an arrow into their quiver and has used it themselves. On the legacy version of Archeage, this happened from time to time, usually between guilds that were at odds with each other. However, what I've seen on Denistrious (Unchained) has honestly made me want to find a new server.

I watch as people purple unsuspecting people on the Cargo ship. I watch as people purple lowbies or alts for their water before the reset, I watch as a people purple anybody who is trying to finish a quest. It is the same player type that is pro PvP but can't seem to moderate themselves to actually PvP. What I mean here is there is a whole faction of people you can PvP but those people will suspect something if you show up as the other faction, in such, they are ready for you and you lack the element of surprise. However, if you walk up green and then turn purple you have the element of surprise and can usually kill somebody before they even know what is going on.

So why is it so bad? I mean it really isn't that big of a deal to me if I get killed for no reason randomly because a person doesn't like me, is bored or whatever. Actually, it is about the game as a whole. Because I have dealt with it, I know always to get captains protection on a cargo ship, I know not to run packs through war zones, and I know the people who will be causing problems for a quest. I can choose to not do those activities or protect myself the best I can. There are many people who don't know, maybe didn't start playing day one, or looking for some casual fun. These are the people that keep the economy going. These are the people we want playing. Purpling at its core is ANTI-GAME not just ANTI-FACTION.

If little Timmy started playing Archeage today, learned about trade packs and decided to run one to Cinderstone or Ynyster and right before he got to the location he was purpled and lost his pack what do you think Timmy would think about the game? It is his fault for not knowing about purpling right? What if a couple who loves to play together decided to run a cargo pack for their daily family mission. They barely had enough gold for the cargo packs and captains protection. Show up on the cargo boat late and didn't find a seat. About ¾ away through the journey a green summons a boat and pushes them off the ship, purples them and takes their pack? It is their fault right for not knowing to get a seat or get on the ladder?

That is just the beginning of why purpling isn't helping the game. If you look at the history of Archeage what has happened time and time again is that people are reluctant to play the game because they missed the launch. About the only time in which new players will come play the game is during a new server launch, which will not happen until or when the existing servers are getting merged together. It is a vicious cycle that has repeated almost every year since Archeage was launched.

So why do people purple? I really don't have a great answer for that. I honestly have only done this a handful of times on the Legacy servers and that was purely a guild vs guild thing, and I even hated it then. What I feel like is going on is those who do it all the time do it for greed, do it because they are bored or do it to grief. None of those are positive qualities, it does bear mentioning. If they are bored okay that is on XL, give these cats something to do. If for greed, well that only hurts the game, stealing from the poor to feed the powerful isn't a recipe for a long life game/server. If it is for grief or because it's fun watching others suffer at your all-powerful hand, see a psychiatrist because there is a lot of issues to be worked on there.

When people only have a limited time to play, events are timed and the struggle to keep up with your friends amounts to a situation where another party purpling another party simply because the leader of those opposing parties don't like each other everybody in those parties is caught in the crossfire. Those that purple actually know where they can do it and NOT have the minor downside of getting crime points via bloodstains show up. Literally this was said tonight, Purple on the platform it won't leave any bloodstains and "ITS FUN" which was done by a person who hates the other person leading an opposing raid. Meanwhile, everybody in the 2 raids not in those particular guilds is the ones who are suffering for it.

I do see why XL implemented the purpling situation if it actually worked correctly. That is if you really have to, you can plead your case in the jury. You may get Not Guilty and go about your day. But the system is so tainted with people lying that many juries simply won't believe the honest guy when he shows up. Which brings us to the so-called punishment. Does anybody out there actually think that jail is working as it should? When you see people get 2000+ minutes in jail do you think they are actually sitting in there the whole time? Hell no, they are immediately escaping and getting killed again and hoping for a better jury, one of which is made of their guild members.

The jury/crime system is broken. The purpling system is an idea that really has no place in the game in its current state. The legit reasons for purpling somebody blocking you with a vehicle has already been addressed with a blanket statement of it is not allowed and will result in action. Then, I hate this guild reason that can be settled with the Guild vs Guild War. Don't like the peace mechanic of that, and then make your case for a change. Stealing from your faction has no place in a game as it matures. The powerful will steal from the weak, the weak will quit, others will follow suit and the game will have server merges. That is a historical fact.

There is a lot more to this but I assume most people TLDR this anyway, be well.
