PSA: Quickly make and NAME the character first to get in to the server, THEN customize appearance! Posted: 13 Oct 2019 10:42 AM PDT So many are missing getting in because they are taking time to customize appearance. You don't have to do that. Make it quick, and then go back after you're in and customize. You cannot change name and race, but everything else (class and gender included) is changeable after creation. Hope that helps. You are allowed 2 characters per ACCOUNT. Choose your server and faction wisely, as you cannot delete until after launch. EDIT: Some are saying you can change name. This wasn't my experience yesterday, but I suppose I'll say unconfirmed, you can change name too. Advice for new players - Instead of picking a class combination, choose a role instead. Posted: 13 Oct 2019 11:04 AM PDT Class is easy to change at any time. As you progress however, role becomes increasingly difficult to change. Pick a role and stick with it through end-game. Information is based on current Unchained meta. Hybrid builds are generally not recommended - especially for new players. ​ Here are the roles to choose from and the primary stats that go toward each: Archer (Agility) You can't play archer without taking the archery tree. Longest range role Kiting is life King of ocean battles Lot of instant skills and fast firing At equivalent gear score, sacrifices damage for range ​ Mage (Intelligence) Most diversity in builds due to number of trees that use magic Ranged, but not as far as archers Capable of high dps Spells cannot be blocked, parried, or evaded but they can miss like any skill due to accuracy ​ Melee (Strength) Almost all melee take Battlerage to some degree so you better like that tree. Highest burst damage Play-style is in your face Excels with chaining combos together for control and damage burst Has gap closers but can be frustrating when getting kited by ranged (which is all other dps roles) ​ Healer (Spirit) Must take vitalism to be a healer. Sustain is a strength of this role - both for you and your friends One of the most valued roles in any group situation Can solo surprisingly well - especially at end game. Perhaps even better than most. Most "cast time" for many important skills and damage Can be highly mobile when played well but needs to calculate room for getting spells off ​ Tank (Stamina) Can be physical or magic based. Damage is not a priority for a tank. A guide for the pre launch period! (common questions and answers, answered by your friendly ebonsong!) Posted: 13 Oct 2019 03:28 PM PDT Sure we have alot of guides on what to do once archeage unchained releases but do we have a guide on what to do before then? I, brianvy, will guide you through your troubles and tribulations as you wait eagerly (or not so eagerly) for the release! The main question alot of people have right now is about name registration, certain servers have races restricted while other servers are restricted in all their races! Why is this? If the server is restricted it means that the devs have shut off pre registering for them until a later date, and or launch, this is to keep the servers balanced and your experience in the first few days the best it can be. We know they won't be balanced due to the popularity but the devs can try. Please keep up to date with the official discord for news! (in #news) The second question i've seen alot of people ask is about if name registrations are per server or per region If you register the name "bobby" on one server someone can take "bobby" on another server, you have up to 2 pre registered names so use them wisely! If you must have a character on a certain server due to friends please wait till the next open registry (before the 15th) or the official opening! there will be less if any restrictions then. You cannot delete your character until release due to how name reservation works. The third question, not really a question but a misconception, i've seen is the "priority" of names There is no such thing as priority for pre registering names, if you have bought gold silver or the highest preorder package you shall be treated the same way as anyone else, first come first serve. It would be unfair and frankly a bad decision if those who spent more money could overwrite someones name registration, please be patient with the staff :) they're trying *very* hard on the discord The fourth and final thing i'd like to address is the jail times, and also how the jail system worked in the pts Alot of people are saying the jail times were too long during the pts and that the names of the jury being blanked out was a bad decision (as they will always give the highest penalty), this is really not the truth. During the pts alot of people used their labor (basically work points) to escape jail, this would cause the next penalty to be stacked with their prior, due to how this is a pretest (and thus not permanent) and the high labor people got exorbitant jail times. This will happen less often if at all when the game comes out, it is around 30 minutes from what I've seen for murder of a faction mate, if you are afraid of the consequences please don't escape (and make things worse for yourself) or ... Don't commit crimes! Other things for players! >Q Alexander and Wynn (wynn east >:3) are the most popular of eu and us respectively >Your race decides which side you end up on! If your friend has a different race you'll be able to learn their language, either that or delete your character and move continents when the game starts! >Land will be unlocked on the 4th day, this will cause a event known as the "land rush"! >From rumor it seems land is increased by around 30% don't slack off because of this though! >Please thank the mods on the discord because they've been working very hard!
