Small Guide for graphics (Quality) for top-end users (NVIDIA)

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 02:30 PM PDT

This isn't a guide for performance, as I am running a top-end machine and look to pump out the best graphical quality from games not necessarily performance/frames so if you're running a mid-tier or lower-tier rig this isn't the guide for you.

NVIDIA users open Nvidia Control Panel

    • Select Program Settings in Manage 3D settings and add archeage.exe
    • Anisotropic filtering set to 8x or 16x
    • Antialiasing FXAA turn off
    • Antialiasing Gamma correction turn off
    • Antialiasing Mode Application controlled
    • Low Latency Mode set to Ultra
    • Monitor Technology G-Sync if you have it or fixed refresh if you dont
    • Multi-Frame Sampled AA On
    • Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance
    • Preferred refresh rate to Highest Available
    • Shader Cache On
    • Texture filtering Negative LOD bias to Clamp
    • Texture filtering to High Quality
    • Threaded optimization to On
    • Triple Buffering to Off
    • Vertical sync to Use the 3D application setting

for in-game settings I have everything maxed out, with Direct X11 and Vsync on, with a frame limit of 143 played in full screen mode and running the 64bit client

The game looks great and runs rather well, with a few slowdowns here and there. What looks terrible are the shadows, and the ground clutter pop in (grass bushes). I attempted to increase the quality of the shadow resolution and range of the vegetation via system.cfg but it only crashes the game. If anyone has any info on if this is possible, or to remove grass/clutter from the ground altogether without resulting in a ban please let me know.

any criticisms or improvements that can be made to this please lmk

    3.0 to 6.0 catchup

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 04:21 AM PDT

Considering I'm no longer looking for information to catch up on regarding ArcheAge I figured I'd post most of my findings here. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark everything I found so there's still things you could go out and find. I stopped in 3.0 hence the title, good luck.

    Archeage Unchained Guilds Index

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 12:46 AM PDT

    Ahoy.

Due to hearing about Archeage Unchained, and there being a decent amount of interest in my guild for making a return to Archeage for it, I've added the Unchained servers to the Archeage Guilds Index.

    https://archeage.guildex.org

For those who've never heard of Guildex, it's essentially what it sounds like.. a list of guilds.

A bit of history: A couple of months before Guild Wars 2 was released I launched GW2Guilds.org; its main purpose being to give guilds an indication of which servers would be the best place to roll come launch. It was great to see all the big alliances declaring where they were going to call home, with thousands of guilds registering themselves over a few short weeks.

I later decided to support other MMOs and renamed the site Guildex. The site hasn't changed drastically since it launched, mainly because it's always been my goal to keep it as simple as possible, though I did gear it more towards advertising for recruitment by adding lots of filters. Guild websites and forums already cover the contact/communication side of things, so I really just want to provide an easy way to find guilds, and also to see what other guilds you're playing with or against.

Now the site has over 20,000 guilds registered (across all games), and I have since added some auto-pruning functionality which should keep the listings reasonably accurate.

Over 1,300 Archeage guilds have been registered on the site in the past, so it did see a fair bit of use back in the day. The release of Unchained is pretty close, so it may be a bit late in the day to get the word out, but who knows. Hopefully some will find it useful.

Very open to suggestions for additions and alterations, lots of things have been added in the past based on people's feedback.

    Thanks!

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 01:42 PM PDT

Hi guys, i'm new and i want to be able to play this game with my friends. However, I've been dealing with RSI in both arms for around 7 years now. It hurts to push buttons too frequently or left & right click. I'm wondering if there's maybe a healing class that doesnt press many buttons or what do you guys think i can play that isnt complete dogshit?

How is the game playing as a duo with an inexperienced player ?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 12:17 PM PDT

    Hey !

long time MMO player here. tested a lot of stuff , and spend most of my time on DAoC , wow and recently albion.

I m looking to introduce my friend who was reluctant to play mmos because " there is so much already released it's too late to catch up". He agreed to test an mmo with me so i was thinking archeage unchained might be something he would like , as he already mentionned the economy/pvp system of Eve and the release is soon to be , so he wont be "too late"

My concern is about game mechanics. I never played the game but it doesnt seem noob friendly . Is the learning curve really steep for a newcomer to the MMO genre ?

also is the game playable as a 2 player team ? like ganking style builds or w/e

    thanks !

What are the best Stats/Gear for Ebonsong?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 07:37 AM PDT

    Hey,

im new to the Game and would like to ask you some questions regarding Ebonsong, if you dont mind.

    1. First of all i would like to know which Main/Offhand Weapon is the best for a Ebonsong?

    2. What Stats are the best for Ebonsong?

I would say from the looks of it on:

    Weapon: Agility, Critrate, Critdmg

    Armor: Agility, Health, Evasion

Am i wrong with the Stats?

I saw a Video where you can guarantee 2/3 Stats to be perfect by using a Catalyst Stone. Lets say i got a One Handed Sword and have only 2/3 Stats right and the third one is crap. How can i have a another Chance to get my third Stat right? How far should i upgrade the Weapon if i only have 2/3 Stats right?

Unfortunatetly there is no option to buy a another Bow. What am i supposed to do if the Stats on the Bow are completly wrong? How far should i upgrade a Bow if the Stats are crap?

Sorry that i overwhelm you with a lot of questions. I would appreciate if you can help me out.

    Mage or melee?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 04:03 PM PDT

Haven't played the game since early release and am coming back for AAU. Getting stuck on what class Style I'm going to be playing.

I like the look of Battlerage/Shadowplay/X for melee and Maladiction/Sorcery/X for mage.

Could anyone give me the pros/cons of each style and what would be better for someone with higher ping? (Aussie)

    Thanks!

    Archer viability

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 04:00 PM PDT

My orginal plan was going ebonsong. However i keep hearing archer is extremely underpowered. I'm 46 in the pts and I've seen archers getting outdmg'd by healers.

Can someone experienced tell me what is the problem with this class? Does it scale well with gear? Also i know kr recently got archer buffs. Does the company care about balance? Because from looking at old post archer seems to have been garbage for multiple years.

    crashing after initial cutscenes :(

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 12:10 PM PDT

Does anyone know how to fix the crash that happens after the 3 cutscenes you go when you start up the game? I've tried running glyph as admin, setting my driver in my config file to DX11, having no programs related to my mouse/keyboard up when starting, unplugging my USB headset, and opting out of glyph beta.

Wiki Update: After receiving user feedback, the "Lore" section is now complete and now I'm off to work on the "Trade" section.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 01:21 AM PDT

    Hello Archeage fans,

After hearing from you guys, I knew updating the lore section was important and shouldn't be ignored. Recently finished updating the "Lore" section, and I couldn't have done it without you guys. I really appreciate the amount of work multiple people put into identifying inconsistencies and suggesting improvements. Would never have known which translations to trust.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/archeage/wiki/world

Now, I'm gonna start working on the Trade section. Here's a quick question I could use some help on.

What kind of information do you want to see within the trade section? Besides trade pack materials and locations. Would a description of each profession be something that people would use?

Thanks as always for your input. Please let everyone know that (parts of) our subreddit wiki has been updated for 6.0.

First time Players - Need Help.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 03:40 PM PDT

    Hello Arche Age Community,
we are 3 people who will play AA:U for the first time.
My question is mostly about which class would be best for us to play together?
Each of us want to play Tank, DD and Support/ Heal Class.
    Myself is the Tank.
I read a lot about Nightcloak and Skullknight being one of the best Tanks.
But what is your recommendations and what would fit best if we three mostly play together?
What would you suggest us to take?
We want to test as much as possible during the PTS this week.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hidden Farms

    Posted: 05 Oct 2019 04:31 AM PDT

I am new to the game so testing things out, I noticed that if you take a crop that someone else planted it can still belong to them even after it has fully grown and leave footprints.

I googled and read that the crop belongs to the one that planted it for ~24 hours then it become public property. Read that footprints also lasts maybe 24 hours.

Does this mean that if I make a hidden farm where not many people go and I plant something that last <24 hours, then I am able to bring anyone that steal it to court? So it is really punishing for the ones that steal the crops if it is a <24 hour crop that is checked on before it becomes public property.
