Most pressing issue Posted: 14 Sep 2019 09:20 AM PDT I'm reading things about mods, the terrible livestream, the lack of pts (and the promise that, best case scenario, we'll get it only on the 23rd which is laughable), heck bound/notbound costumes even and it's all valid stuff but until Gamitrino does something about its servers, I feel like people should be wary of buying / pre-ordering. Trion has, in the past, used the "well, we wish we could have done XYZ but xlgames..." excuse every time they could. Yet, to me at least, the main problem that has plagued their launches, every single one of their launches, is their absolutely atrocious server infrastructure and it has very little (if anything) to do with XL. Time and again, Trion has had terrible servers, servers that crashed/dc'ed for weeks on end, with NPCs disappearing from the world, mobs/objects spawning in odd places and mounts/vehicles unable to summon, to name but a few recurring issues. We've had queues that lasted for 12+ hours, queues that dc'ed you and sent you to the back of the queue, queues you could force your way through (and Trion suddenly being really quick at providing a fix!), etc. But it's Gamigo now, right? Well, besides the fact that most of their current team is still the same aces we had during the Trion years, when we take a look at their current server performances, it's somehow worse. Let's take a quick look: 1)A few weeks ago, they were migrating their NA servers in what was supposed to take twelve hours. It took three full days. 2)Their forums were down for over a week and have been "read-only" (we can't post!) for another couple days. 3)Their login system for NA is now down. 4)On legacy servers, servers that are by and large what people would consider "dead", any major "world event" brings heavy latency and lag. We're speaking of servers whose combined population, for NA and EU, will be dwarfed by ANY of Unchained's future servers. 5)Legacy servers have recurring latency issues. Yet, during the livestreams and in their official public communications, not a word on what is, by far, the biggest problem Unchained (and even Legacy) is facing: what's the point of having this big relaunch if we can't even play or the game is unplayable for days, if not weeks on end (as was seen on other FS launches)? A living world that has considerably more potential than any other game I have played short of the great classics like UO. A game where you can make a real name for yourself in a fantasy world and have grand adventures or just stay home, tend to your crops and do some trading. What's the deal with library/crafted gear Posted: 14 Sep 2019 12:02 PM PDT Hello, I'm a returning player, I know perfectly well how Hiram gear works by now. I'm curious about the other options tho (library and crafted), I hear some say they're not worth it, and some say they're better than Hiram and worth going for. Could I get a quick rundown to understand what's it gonna take to actually get a library or crafted gear to a point where they're worth it ? I hear they cost a lot of gold, but how much exactly is a lot if we compare it to Hiram labor for example. Also how would they work in unchained when everything's fresh ? How long do you think until proper crafted gear starts popping on the auction or would I obtain the stuff to feed library gear. We all desperately want this to go well, but... Posted: 14 Sep 2019 04:18 PM PDT Instead of downvoting me convince me otherwise. With the legacy launch bait and switch, the fresh starts etc etc... We need to be realistic about Unchained. A buy to play-play to win model does not have the most longevity, that and the bad history of the game form the perfect storm for a cash grab. The lack of communication from Gamigo regarding server performance, cash/diligence shop configuration and the host of other unanswered questions, paired with what feels like a very rushed release date makes me uneasy at best. I would love for this to go smoothly, I pray that they get the PTS out sooner, and the servers can handle the game at routine useage (let alone launch), but this feels all to familiar. submitted by /u/ericlplante [link] [comments]

Gear Progression for Unchained servers ( new/returning layers) Posted: 14 Sep 2019 03:52 PM PDT Some back story, I've been super on and off with Archeage since the was first available (started as a Spellsinger at the time). When the 3.0 fresh start servers came (Rolled as a Primeval this time) out I returned to the game and remembered there was a rush for GHA (Greater Howling Abyss, for the newer players) as your first set of real gear. I went back to the game and played on the Legacy servers around the beginning of 2019 (switched to Ebonsong) so I didn't have to start from scratch again and basically was able to directly farmed up a full Hiram set. The Question: Is it worth going through GHA for early gear or should you purely progress the story line for gear and then farm Hiram/Library? Is Mistsong Summit still an avenue worth looking into and how does it stack up against Hiram gear? Although somewhat experience I'm overall a noob at the game, should I focus on crafted gear despite my inexperience? I'm also aware that there will be changes to the set effect given by Leather/Plate/Cloth, however I have not found a source for the changes so I won't post what I know in order to not put out misleading information. Unchained on Steam Posted: 14 Sep 2019 01:21 AM PDT So over the last few days I've been trying to download archeage to see if I like it and maybe buy unchained when it releases, but for some reason the glyph client isn't letting me download archeage and after multiple reinstalls i have given up.
