Posted: 19 Nov 2021 02:09 AM PST So they decided to create a fresh start for shitty daily grind Archeage without any usefull content, since all this game has right now is dailies for pve. How about old archeage (1.2-3.0). Game with real content: - Bosses which were worth competing for to gear up - Risky moneymakers like fire trees and special water (don't remember names after years) which made open world pvp - Risky trade runs which gave real money and stealing these which made open world pvp - Crafting being main factor of creating gear - Hidden farms being actually worth creating and finding which made open world pvp (in stealing and killing). Thunderstruck trees were not so easy to get - Level cap achieved quickly so we could have choosen our own way to gear up and enjoy the game without boring pve farm every day - Slow progression without broken passes, where everything had to be gained somehow in game. There were points for daily logging in but it took a lot of time to actually gain something from it And even more already destroyed mechanics.... Old School Runescape is 4x more popular than RS3. I bet Old School Archeage would also be fine! It would also require to create another development branch and adjust changes so it will not be left by players. Korean branch is not what EU/NA needs! A brief History on ArcheAge: Unchained (with sources cited) Posted: 18 Nov 2021 01:45 PM PST With all the talk going on in the other thread, I thought it would be beneficial to put out some information on exactly what happened with AAU in the past. This will mostly be pure information, but I will add in some commentary and summarization of complex issues. If anything is wrong, feel free to let me know and I will edit the post. Reveal and lead to launchDuring the lead up to the release, Gamigo had several streams talking about the game and answering questions. The most important details were: ~30$ one-time purchase, no pay-to-win, 3 accounts max per person, and aggressively going after RMT. Here is an interview that took place on Sept 27, 2019 (about 2 weeks before launch) with Khrolan During this time there was also a situation with Gamigo considering adding Costume gifting into the cash shop, but was quickly scrapped.. (Bonus meme and also self-roast for how naive I was.) Launch and first problemsOct 15, 2019 was the launch of ArcheAge: Unchained. New servers were added shortly after due to large playerbase. The original ArchePass rewarded gold for quests, as well as progressing your ArchePass level. This lead to a problem many people refer to "BossAge" where the majority of your time was spent trying to complete the World boss ArchePass quest that rewarded you with 50g. Oct 18, 2019: massive post about BossAge Oct 20, 2019: another post about world boss issue Oct 22, 2019: ArchePass gold values lowered Oct 25, 2019: ArchePass disabled Many players were quite frustrated with the ArchePass situation, but with it in the past, the state of the game was much better. It would be short-lived though, because the RMT market was starting to surface. The majority of gold buyers were fine, but those that gloated and/or provided screenshots and/or text in game did receive bans. Nov 24, 2019: another post on RMT Nov 27, 2019: another post on RMT While all of this was going on, the ArchePass was being worked on. Nov 27, 2019: ArchePass added to PTS, quests grant Diligence instead of Gold Dec 5, 2019: The return of the ArchePass The new ArchePass was overall received quite well. It still contained only cosmetics for the premium track and also updated the quest systems by replacing Gold rewards with small number of Diligence. The quests required were also improved, allowing players to spend much less time on it each week. For the most part, besides the RMT going on, the general population was quite happy with the current state of the game. Fast forward to Spring of 2020... Garden of the Gods DLC and first Fresh StartMay 21, 2020 - Garden of the Gods DLC announced June 8, 2020 - First Fresh start planned for June 11 June 10, 2020 - Announcement of new Fresh Start servers requiring Garden of the Gods DLC to join The May announcement cause quite an uproar, claiming Gamigo had gone back on their word of a one-time purchase. There was a post in Febuary, that encouraged players to take a Survey relating to "Content Updates, Marketplace Sales, and more". Gamigo stated that "it has become increasingly challenging to continue delivering the Unchained version of the game and remain as true to [Gamigo's] pillars of fair-to-play as possible," and it is heavily inferred that the results of the Survey were that no one wanted any pay-to-win. This article goes in depth and has some great links in it if you would like to read more about the Garden of the Gods DLC situation. First pay-to-win added and downfall of AAUSep 15, 2020 - Convenience items enter the cash shop OCT 13, 2020 - FIRST OFFICIAL PAY-TO-WIN ADDED THROUGH ARCHEPASS REVAMP. Two days later and this would have been exactly 1 year after launch. Official post without a date (that I could find) is right here. By this point, the vast majority of the population was gone. Gamigo decides to milk the remaining players by finally adding in pay-to-win. March 12, 2021 - Gunslinger DLC alongside the final Fresh Start server that required the new DLC One last hurrah for AAU, the final Frest Start servers under Gamigo had a much lower launch population than the previous ones, slightly less than a year earlier. Overall population and interest in the game heavily diminishes to get us to where we are now. In closingOne thing I skipped over earlier (because it wasn't related to Gamigo's management) was the change of Hiram Daillies becoming Weeklies (besides EHM) for the Garden of the Gods update in June 2020. What is the general consensus with kakao? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:45 AM PST This is not an achievement but id say kakao is an upgrade from gaymego or trion. It also looks like XL is taking back more control and putting us on the same version as korea which I personally see as a positive. Tho I do think XL has been at the core of most of archeages problems over the years so maybe it at this point does not really matter who publishes this junk I think at the end of the day we are watching the slow death of a game I loved but a small publisher like Kakao probably values the game more than gaymigo ever did, I have to hope there would be people at Kakao that care about archeage's success copium or did we upgrade publishers? A friendly note to those who love the new sub model, and a warning for the future. Posted: 18 Nov 2021 04:18 AM PST Archeage Unchained was meant to be a buy to play model. A way to enjoy the "legacy" Archeage with everything EXCEPT patron, or..."subscription". Many players like myself bought into this thinking they would be able to play with no p2w whatsoever, or at least a way to enjoy the game with no strings attached. Unfortunately I and I'm sure many others realized the fault in this due to the archepass...but that is not why I'm here today. Recently, Kakao decided to introduce a sub model to AAU, completely destroying the very fabric of why it exists. In doing so, the community has been divided, one for no sub, and the other for yes sub...The people who 'want' the sub model are vastly outnumbered by the ones that don't..and this is where my warning comes into play. Archeage, as of now...has a very low player count and is kept alive by whales, and those who use bots, and of course those who love the game. Many, like myself will be transferring our data and just quitting, while others just simply leave. As players leave, you individuals who love the sub system will learn a very hard lesson later on if xl games and kakao can no longer hold the game alive. In simple terms...archeage is cursed by money grabbing companies, and as this game finally passes on...you folks who gave them 10's, or 100's in subs, will lose all that money to something that should have never had it. So...do what you like, you folks who love the idea...you'll lose all that money in the long run, when you never even had to. Side note: Come to new world and ffxiv! FFXIV loves their community and your 10 bucks would be much better used there...New World is an upcoming one that honestly isn't too bad...but again..it's owned by amazon so...yea....
