    ArcheAge Role play Guild Coalition

    ArcheAge Role play Guild Coalition

    Role play Guild Coalition

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 10:55 AM PDT

I was wondering if there were enough people interested in having a RP community where we could organize social events and storytelling.

I was thinking of starting a social/ casual guild for launch for carebears but it might be interesting to try RP this time around.

How many RP guilds are planning on returning for launch?

I'm looking for good guides recommended by exp players. Want to start the game when 6.0 hits, but don't wanna be misinformed.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:30 AM PDT

I know the problem from BDO, where everybody has his own opinion and nearly all info u get from casusal websites or player with less than 500h are crap. So I wanted to ask for some help the read through some good guides from the beginning on. Not only written stuff ofc, also all kinds of videos and youtubers :)

I have MMO experience, but never played Archeage before.

I'd be very thankfull, have a nice day!

    Witchcraft vs Occultism?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:00 PM PDT

How does witchcraft stack up to Occultism? A cursory glance through the forums suggests that Occultism is better with doomlord/executioner/reaper being suggested over hexblade/shadowblade/daggerspell. I haven't played in a few years so I'm not current on all the changes in the game, bit what happened? I remember the witchcraft classes doing very well.

As a side note any resources for up to date builds are welcome there is a lot of out of date info out there.

How can I copy the client to another PC without downloading everything again?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:10 AM PDT

I copied the downloaded/updated client to a USB-stick, installed Glyph on the other machine, copied the updated Archeage client to the other machine's hard drive, set the proper location in the Glyph client and it just downloads a 15GB file instead of letting me play :/

    Any ideas?

    AAU Faction Balance During Launch

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:46 PM PDT

The devs can lock character creation by faction if a server gets too far out of balance. Should they do this?

IMHO I would prefer they just let people play where and how they want.

On the other hand it may make things more fun if the sides are even at the start.

    Just curious what others think?

Never played but pre-ordered because mmorpg is life

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:20 AM PDT

    Guys,

I played a lot mmorpgs a few years ago and i want to come back strong with AAU since it has no monthly subscription, no dlcs and no p2w(allegedly)! I rather give money once and maybe one or two costumes.

So, I'm trying to learn as much as possible but i'm really lost with the house/farm thing. Why do we need them?

AA tells you can do what you want, but we have story/side quests and dungeons like a typical mmorpg? I'm putting bdo aside just because there is no instance dungeons to do!

Is there an up-to-date skill calculator?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 10:42 AM PDT

Can we please have a discussion about a PvP dedicated server option at launch

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:07 AM PDT

So with a "fresh" start of sorts in the world of Archeage Unchained I really feel we should have the discussion of a PvP server. I feel this discussion should be talked about EVEN if there are NO changes to the PvP server at launch. Instead the PvP server can be changed over time to develop further the state of PvP in the game and on this dedicated type of server.

I'll write a list of what I believe should be changed on the PvP server and mind you, I haven't played in around 2 years (despite loving this game so very much). So if things have already been changed to some of my suggestions then I do apologize.

    Proposed changes/ additions:

    1. Remove all guards from towns
    2. Remove all safe housing zones
    3. Remove safe zones around ALL traders
    4. Reduce peace time
    5. Increase rewards in war zones
    6. Increase open world honor
    7. Add additional risk vs. reward events / activities (best example is the treasure chest event from a while ago, incredibly high risk and incredible rewards)
    8. Remove 3/4th's of the nui's so that dying has more of an impact on the overall fight and it helps prevent people feeding through again from the nui
    9. Add in some sort of zerg busting mechanic (if a character has +3 enemies compared to allies in a zone around them they gain a buff and it scales with the number difference) ----- Something similar to when you pull too many mobs and they gain a buff that reduces the damage they take
    10. Makes lower level world bosses relevant by giving them some sort of relevant material that they can drop akin to like resplendent scrolls etc
    11. Give a reason to take packs and valuable materials across the ocean even if it means completely reworking the pack turn ins to give something other than gold or a crafting material

These are some of what I can come up with so far, I would love to hear what you would add / take away. Also if you agree or disagree with my post please feel free to post below!

    A question about end-game & gear grind

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:00 AM PDT

To those who played until the end game in the live servers,

What's the end game grind for gear? What's Hiram gear? What will change about this due to the game not being P2W anymore?

Also other than that, what's the end game like currently? Are there many dungeons, boss fights, pvp?

I know I could look up a lot of this myself but I'm looking to see what current or players who reached end game have to say.

I quit very early on. I absolutely loved the game when it launched and played it a bunch. But as soon as I seen the easy thunderstruck trees (Archeum trees?) On the shop I immediately quit.

When the server doesnt lag its ass off and i can actually play the west gets shit on

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 10:52 AM PDT

I took some time to write up my thoughts (and the people i talked to) about AA:U's biggest issues (about 3 pages in word, TL;DR at bottom)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:05 AM PDT

    Potential Problems of ArcheAge: Unchained

First of, why would you read through my opinion?

I played the game for around 2000 hours over every launch that happened, excluding the first fresh start. This isn't an insane amount of playtime compared to some of the other guys here, but still a considerable amount of time to put into a game imo.In the beginning I was super casual, arcane buff, off-meta class, just having fun with my guild mates. Got more competitive with every new server and recently I've been playing with guilds contesting/farming servers (Agamek on prophecy for example). So yea, been there – done that.I do not work in the field of game design. I am not studying in that field either. But I'm always trying to get very constructive with my feedback and this is why I'm sharing it here, hoping some Gamigo devs will take their time and read through it, as well as maybe getting some discussion going.

    Alright so, the trading system

I will have to admit that I didn't play the most recent patches; the last time I actively played was in April this year. The trading system felt awkward and clunky. I personally liked the national (or in-continent) trade routes. All the overseas stuff was just super complicated and not really that worth it, with some exceptions I won't cover here, since it doesn't really add to the point I'm making.I think reverting this to a system that resembles the Pre-3.0 (or whenever the first big rework happened) would be a huge benefit for the game, although I do NOT think this will be a serious threat to its success. It would just be kind of nice to have.

    Second, the crime point system

The changes to the crime point system that happened a few updates ago make it so unbelievably punishing to PK others for packs or just for fun. I do not get this, honestly. ArcheAge is a game made for open world PvP. And while I do agree, that it's still faction vs faction, I hate the thought of reducing PvP in a game that is directly made for it. The "but not everybody likes PvP" argument is not valid here in my opinion. If you don't like PvP, don't go to zones where it's allowed. You can't make as much money this way? Because you can't do high risk trade runs which pay more? Well, that's what the game is all about….

Up Third, the economy without Apex

This is more of a personal concern. This will not really kill the game but I see issues with it none the less. In order to explain this, I'll take you back to the beginning of the "progression" servers trion released in the end of April 2018:

Spoiler: this isn't about "oh they never released any of the content on time bla bla". This is a completely different issue.

In order to keep an even playfield, trion decided to release content slowly, over the course of a few months. High Tier gear was locked, max level was 50, there were no fishing boats/cars/haulers/freighters, no castles, no Auroria in general (apart from diamond shores). You get the idea.

In the first "Phase" the best crafted gear was magnificent (the tier below epherium). This was outclassed be GHA gear which was very easy to get and fairly cheap to regrade. You might be asking "why was it so cheap?". Because in the marketplace there were regrade scrolls for 30g.

So with crafted gear being bad and regrading GHA being the only reasonable gear progression, the only recourse needed to gear was gold - Cold hard cash.

What did this do? The only materials that were worth a considerable amount were wood (in the first week or two, used for the land rush), star light archeum (used in the diamond shores packs) and then EVERYTHING used for trade packs. Because without fishing boats the only 2 ways of generating bare cash were coin purses and trade runs. Everything else was virtually worthless for the first month. Spoiler alert, Phase 1 was way longer than it should have been, Phase 2 was still missing a lot of promised stuff and the server went from hyped to absolute shit-show in less than 2 months (in my opinion).

Now, after rambling for quite some time, what does this have to do with taking out apex from the game?

For 95%+ of players, a considerable amount of their earned gold went into Apex in order to pay for patreon. Some did it in order to save some $ or €, others did it to have more accounts. But almost every player I know has spent tons of in-game gold on Apex.

We (or rather Gamigo) has to avoid a situation where the only progression you can make is by buying 30g regrade scrolls off the cash shop (the big point here is, it's not off other players. You buy it from the system) and thereby making most of the economy virtually useless. Thunderstruck trees went for fucking 200g for a good month or two because there was no use for them. Nothing.

Where will all this gold go now? What will it be spent on? The gear that 99% of players will be going for is Hiram gear, at least for the start of the server. This also only requires gold and Hiram-XP to level it up. Erenor will be an option later, but that's going to take months I assume (and the new Korean Hiram levels outclass even Erenor as far as I know). What are you going to spend your money on? I honestly don't know and it's both a bit worrying but also very interesting for me as an economy-focused player, to learn about this new AA-Economy.

    Fourth point, multi accounting/multiboxing/alts

Everybody who has played ArcheAge for more than 10 hours knows that alts are a huge deal. This has been addressed by Gamigo, mentioning a 3-accounts-per-person-cap. I honestly hate this. You already know there's going to be people who will still try their very best and run 10 accounts. And some of them will get away with it - you never catch all of them.So in order to keep up with these people, you would have to break the rules as well. So my question is: Why not tighten the rule to be 1 account per person, thereby making it WAY easier to detect if someone's using more accounts than they are allowed to (its always easier to check 1 or more vs 3 or more). You can in turn pump up the labor generation (like you already did with dailies) to have each server have an amount of daily labor that makes the servers progress reasonable fast (the limiting factor is labor for how fast a server can its first *literally whatever*).

This will obviously make you less money at release, but consider this: If you pump up the price to say 30$/€ but its only 1 account per person, that's already a bit of money saved. In turn the game will be way better because it's not going to be AltAge 2.0 (remember, you don't have to pay a sub-fee for alts. If their detection system isn't working very well, it will be an ABSOLUTE fiesta in a matter of weeks). The game being better overall will lead to it not dying in 2 months, thereby selling more of the premium passes and actually making a considerable steady income, instead of a onetime sale that makes 5% of the initial revenue for the rest of its lifetime.

This is honestly – by far – my biggest concern with AA:U.

Up next, the whole EU/NA gold farming fiesta

This is another huge deal, and apart from alts the only system that can ruin the game for me. I do not understand how the labor pool for EU and NA isn't combined yet. It has been going on for literal years: I play on EU and to pay for my Apex/make a quick buck I make NA accounts and use/sell their labor on NA. This costs me NOTHING except a bit of time (5 minutes a day if you have a good setup, lol) and you basically double your daily labor. Now, I do understand that there is no Apex. Therefore, it's not possible to just buy NA Apex, activate it, buy stuff for the credits on EU, sell it and transfer gold from NA to EU with very little loss. But what's keeping me from making a deal with an NA player that goes "I give you 100g on NA, you give me 100g on EU" or "I craft 100 packs for you on NA and you process 10k grains for me on EU"? This will still be a MASSIVE advantage!

As a cherry on top, this is probably not even against ToS. The NA player obviously isn't my alt account so I can have 3 accounts + an unlimited supply of "labor-slaves". This will make the game extremely tedious again and it has such a simple fix!

Labor is already account-wide. Making a second character will not give you twice the labor for obvious reasons. Then why the f*ck can you double your labor by making an NA character????? This should have been changed years ago and it's mindboggling to me how it's still in the game to be honest.

Not directly game related, but still

Support has to be improved from what trion offered. Since the Gamigo takeover it has been getting better, but if AA:U brings in the expected player numbers, support will be trash-tier again. You cannot afford this. Trust me. I took 8 months to get my account back after being banned without a reason being stated to me. But not everybody is going to do that. Most people will tell you to suck a cock if you ban their account, don't give them a reason and don't reply to support tickets for the next 6 months. This will kill ANY game.I also still have an ongoing issue where I cannot make trion accounts and pay for them. I literally played on an account that my guild leader made for me and put his payment info in for, since I could not enter payment information on the trion website. You'd think support would care about that since – you know – that's how they make money, but nope. My own legacy account cannot pay a single cent ever since I made it.

Last but not least, the p2w aspect

I will keep this short as it has been discussed basically since the game first launched in December 2014. It has always been p2w and when I hear "it won't be p2w this time around!!!1!!" I can't help but cringe. Time will show if they can actually hold true to this, but after 4 and a half years of bullshit, I will only trust what I see. I hope, with everything I got, that this will be true, but I will not buy into it being true until I can see it.

    TL;DR

The biggest issues i see with the upcoming release are alts taking over the game again, and playing both NA and EU at once still being allowed. Also the support has to be improved drastically.

Old player wondering the new system

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:00 AM PDT

Hi! I played the game for a very long time and i wanna try unchained but i check the game 3 months ago and auction house was empty. People said life skills are not that good anymore. I saw trading system changed and not worth doing. I love archeage because of the life skill system which ones are still worth doing, alchemy or cooking maybe ? I though maybe aging ladder might be good are they ? For the last thing i wonder what people do to make gold. Im not asking your secrets guys :D just wonder what are the options.

    Archeage for a casual player

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:02 AM PDT

As far as I understand, the developers are planning on keeping the old Archeage and creating a new version Archeage: Unchained. (*my mistake)

I have played ArcheAge years ago when it just launched and after a while, mostly because of the labour system, I quit.

Are there any news about the F2P version of Archeage now? Is it more casual friendly? Is there any point in starting it now or should I wait for the major update in Fall?

What are your thoughts about the game after the live stream?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:52 PM PDT

I've been out of the official archeage loop for some time now. I think 3.0 is where I finally called it quits but my activity started to drop pretty sharply around 2.0 iirc. I even did a decent amount of time on the server that shall not be talked about here, but only because it was an earlier version of the game.

Myself, I don't know if I'm excited about this hiram gear. I kind of liked the old version where players crafting gear drove pretty much everything in the game. All the trading, pirating, stealing ect all ultimately revolved around the fact that players were doing things to be able to craft or buy gear and the activity spanned across the entire map. Without having played it, i just get the feeling hiram funnels everyone into the same spot to force everyone into gank wars. Of course for that same reason it's hard for me to judge.

They do seem to be making a serious effort to remove pay to win. Yes you can have more than one account for 25 dollars, however it seems like small fries for a one time fee when compared to what AA has been. It's not a big deal to me but others seem to have taken serious offense.

I think I'm interested enough to throw 25 dollars at it even though I leave for vacation the day before land rush starts and ill be scraping by trying to save up for land. But thats not a huge deal either, can always raid those freedom farms across the ocean until i get my own land.

What I would hope is that post 6.0, changes go back towards what everyone seems to miss about original archeage. Let Hiram gear just be the base and let trading system reworks and crafting reworks and castle reworks all be the driving force that results in that organic, non-gmo, free range, gluten free interactions we all remember from open beta and launch :P

Will cross my fingers and hope that things are headed back in the right direction.
