With Unchained coming Ill start the post for Class discussion. Posted: 28 Aug 2019 03:25 PM PDT I have been out of the game since shortly after 2.0. I am coming back and I know a lot has changed. What are the strongest classes at the moment and why. For small scale pvp 1v1 - xv5 ish. What shines in small scale combat? [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2019 10:49 AM PDT We are hoping they bring up and address most (if not all) of these points during their stream on Friday: NEEDS to be addressed (for us): - "No P2W" - how EXACTLY do they plan to implement this? This is the main (see only) reason we are looking to return. If they say "no P2W," but keep certain critical items in the cash shop (e.g. anything that gives a scalable in-game advantage) we're out. - "Release Date" - for obvious planning considerations - "Plans for Support" - how long and what priority will they be giving AAU over the next few years in terms of customer support, anti-cheat, patching, and content updates? . What we would LIKE to be addressed: - "Trade System" - are there ANY plans to relook the current system, based on community feedback? We REALLY liked the old system, as I think most did... I think some of the more recent changes were done due to population reductions, which may not be an issue with AAU - "Land Grab/Holding Mechanics" - With the removal of patron and other in-game land-related mechanics, how exactly will this work? - "Gamigo Future Monetization Strategies" - The company is new to most of us, and some have said the compnany has previously bought games only to slowly turn them into P2W games. What can the company state to help stem our fears of dealing with this new (to us) MMO publishing company. - "Castle Siege Mechanics" - tracking the announced changes, would like more details on how they plan to execute this; mostly concerned about large streamer guilds who have numbers, but lack skill and organization locking this content down from the organized PvP-focused guilds via the voting system. - "Any Anti-Multiboxing, RMT, or Botting Plans" - Some simple mechanic changes could dissuade some of this (never going to get rid of it all in a modern MMO), just curious as to any plans they have regarding the issue(s) . What else would you like them to address BEFORE you commit your large gaming communities to AAU, or recommend it to your gaming buddies? edited - formatting [link] [comments]
Archeage Unchained Part II - What we know Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:48 AM PDT

Why I, Someone Burned Repeatedly by Trion, Will be Returning. Why you should as well. Posted: 27 Aug 2019 06:36 PM PDT First of all, Let's think of this from a company standpoint. Gamigo Group acquired Trion for an unknown sum of money to save them from filing bankruptcy after a 75% company lay-off. So what does that show us? Trion cash cowing over and over was not enough to keep the company sustainable, let alone profitable. Gamigo saw an opportunity to make Trions assets profitable again by restructuring them. What does that mean? It means obviously that cash cowing and repeating trions actions will only mean imminent death of gamigo. Also a company as big as gamigo has investors. To sell the idea of a multi-title acquisition to investors you need to convince them of a return on profit by a decent margin. To convince them of that means you need to restructure in a way that will make you long term profits as well as be sustainable for 5-10 years on average for investors or a major company to even take on something so massive. Case in point: Gamigo NEEDS this to work just as much or even more than we WANT it to work out. As they have shown so far with community feedback, good communication with the community, and actually presenting community polling data to XL Games themselves, we as players and purschasers are in the driver seat in terms of making this successful. Second point: Over the last year we have also seen the return of Jake Song to archeage as the lead project manager. If you dont know he is the man who founded XL Games and the man behind all the decisions of archeage leading up to the 1.0 launch. 1.0 launch was the pre-cash shop, pre-labor system, pre-pay to win version of the game. After many years of hard work Jake Song had taken a step back from Archeage, which he has described as being like his baby, to work on another game he was passionate about. I forgot the name of the game but it never ended up coming out even though it showed promising trailers. If I can remember the name I'll edit the post with it. But from my understanding through poorly translated interviews I've read on the forums and across the reddit since 2012, he disagrees with all of the major changes that were made in his absence from the games development. One thing I dont understand is why he didnt oversee them moving forward. Rumor has it he had officially stepped down from archeage all together and sold majority stake to work on the other game I mentioned meaning he still saw money from the game but was not in charge of executive decisions. Regardless, since his return he has tried to bring the game back to its roots, and to a state that he had always envisioned for the game. Last year we had gotten an interview from him where he stated that he would like to make major changes for the health of the game within a year and here we are one year later with some major changes to the games health in 6.0, not to mention his previous understanding that the eastern and western cultures are seperate entities in the way they handle progression in video games and would like to flesh out a western version of the game to better suit the culture. I may sound like I'm dick riding XL, Jake Song, Gamigo, etc. But I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who genuinely thinks archeage is the best MMO to ever exist ruined by corporate greed from a developer and publisher level by some suits who only saw dollar signs instead of the games original artist. I've been burned just as much, if not more than most who played this game, but I'm willing to give it one more genuine try to be the potential it has, and I suggest yall do to. P.S. this is the longest shit I've ever taken writing this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2019 04:18 PM PDT It seems everyone longs for the old days of archeage. I remember when raiding freedom farms was a serious event (granted, this one sort of dies off naturally), raiding fishers was common and a lot of sea battles erupted over fishers... some to protect, some to take, running packs across the ocean for charcoal was high risk/high reward... so much so that at first i was using a submarine donkey to run larders and it felt worth it. I could go on but in short, it was need need for things and the way you had to get them that created all the "content" we loved. It was not a repetitive chore like running dalies to get one billion of x to finally get y ect. For those of you still playing/familiar with the current mechanics, will unchained really offer any of that? So far as I can tell it will all be about farming drops for hiram gear.Gear crafting in general just seems dead since I assume even obsidian is old news at this point? I know changes 'are coming to sea combat' but it's vague. Is it just changing up ships, or is the ocean going to be a real battleground again? I suppose we may get more info to that in a couple days. Basically I'm just struggling to see what unchained has to offer returning players other than just "no cash shop" when much of what drove us away is also the move from open content to forced content. The hype train is beyond silly, rebuttal coming on Friday Posted: 28 Aug 2019 04:16 PM PDT The details of Unchained can only be dodged for so long, and I expect more dodging on Friday, but I'm gonna hit the brakes on Friday and lay out some common(or uncommon) sense. Trion could barely fix anything within a month, so I doubt Gamigo can either (Sept. 30th release?), so I'll put down what the problems are, on Friday, despite the hype train. This crap is a treadmill that sucks the life out of thousands of people. I'm really tempted to announce that the game won't release on the scheduled date, if past precedent is any indicator, but I can't avoid mentioning it. I just don't like seeing people taken for a ride, and I get that it's a waste of my time to bother, which is part of why nobody would/will, but I think it's got to be done. Uhhh, inb4 downvote, don't play, move on, you're wrong, etc. [link] [comments]

Relearning to Prepare for Unchained Posted: 28 Aug 2019 07:18 AM PDT I haven't played in several years, since just after Auroria release. Once servers are up, gonna roll a new character on legacy. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I should try to relearn to prepare for Unchained. [link] [comments]
What has been changed over the years? Posted: 28 Aug 2019 11:52 AM PDT Hello guys, I've played this game in the beginning, and i left when everyone else did when they made eveything P2W. I remember that the russians ruled the EU servers by hacking alot of stuffs, and that also made alot of people very angry and quitting the game. Also the Primeval and Stone Arrow were super OP. Since AAU announcement i got so excited and really want to play it again. My question is what has been changed over the years? Is hacking still a thing? Where can i find some simplify patchs notes? Maybe some of you can summarize the bigger changes. Thanks in advance! Cheers! [link] [comments]
Looking for folks to start up a guild together on EU, West. Posted: 28 Aug 2019 11:50 AM PDT Hi, i'm really interested in archeage, but couldn't play at original launch due to time issues, i now am super excited for Unchained release, cause it means i'll have the chance again to experience launch day in AA, I'm looking for more folks who wish to create a guild together and make something special, where people don't feel like number X in a roster of members. Sounds like something you'd be wanting to be apart of ? Hit me up! Discord: ReGiiT#1183 Or here on Reddit! [link] [comments]
ArcheAge Bad. P2W Yikes. Trino no-no. Unchained Scary. We get it. Chill. Posted: 27 Aug 2019 07:38 PM PDT Yes, Trino was worse than the devil. The P2W was bullshit. There have been other fresh-starts that died. We don't care. Even if the game is only fun for two months, it's only $20. That's totally worth it. Nobody is blind to the fact that it might be a trap. We get it. We know. We're just happy to believe that maybe we get to play our game. Chill. Now, somebody go start a counter-circlejerk and complete the cycle. [link] [comments]
How to become a pirate - stealing crops Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:49 AM PDT With unchained coming out I have thought screw it and decided to become a pirate on my alt. I was wondering what as easy way to gain infamy points is? I know about the mount killing method but I doubt any of my guildies can be bothered to help. Could I plant crops on my main and harvest them once they are grown on my wannabe pirate alt. Will I gain points? Does it have to be on my homeland Nuia as an illegal farm? I kinda CBA to run around war zones hunting greens to gain points. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2019 05:30 AM PDT Update: Thanks for the responses, it appears that because these two facets will stay the same, Archeage just isn't for me. I do not understand why people are okay with being gated by the labor point system, but to each their own. Good luck and I hope Unchained brings about more fun for the rest of you. tl;dr - Will gated systems like the labor point system be making a return? Also, I hate PvP (I'm all about co-op). Will Archeage Unchained have servers that focus on PvE; or will there be a way to play and acquire everything without needing to PvP? I learned about Archeage around CBT3 in Korea. The idea behind it sounded so close to what I was looking for in an MMO, and when it was announced that it'd be coming out here, and that Trion would be publishing it, I was hyped. They'd done a good job with Rift, I'd thought, so I figured it was in good hands. But then I learned about the "Labor point system," and knew a dread I couldn't stomach. They gated PvE crafting, building, etc. behind a mobile gaming style energy system. Then they sold things for real money to get around that system. I couldn't believe it, but my desire to play had been crushed. So, will the labor point system be making a return? Before anyone tries to point out that the labor point system would keep the game's player market from crashing like it did in GW2, why isn't the WoW's player market a wreck, since it has no limitation on crafting/gathering? I hate gating of any kind, and the labor point system is the worst. (It's why I don't play many games on my phone.) Even WoW's "you can only do 5 dungeons in an hour" system bothers me (and I hate that raids are locked to a once per week system). The other thing I learned about the game, as it made its way through CBTs in Korea, was that the game had open world PvP, with no option to avoid it. That meant that if you wanted to gather certain things and carry them to your house, you could be attacked at any time. I hate PvP (especially when it's like WoW where high levels can sit in a low level area and grief newer characters/players), and that ruined some of my experience (same with Black Desert Online). I could possibly have gotten over it, but the labor point system was a game breaker for me. Will there be PvE servers? And if not, will there be ways to play where we won't be harassed with PvP if we want to focus on PvE? I want Archeage Unchained to do well, because it has so much potential, and the better MMOs do now, the more good MMOs we might see in the future. But I want it to live up to its potential while not limiting the enjoyment we can have within it. Also, if the game is balanced around PvP and can't be played without it, I understand, I'll simply stick with other MMOs like FFXIV that don't force me to participate. [link] [comments]

Archeage Unchained. Be careful. Posted: 27 Aug 2019 07:23 PM PDT I feel like this needs to be said. I know a lot of people have a ton of love for Archeage but absolutely hated the P2W aspect of it and now with Gamigo coming out saying they will release a "non-p2w" version of it, people are super excited. I am pretty excited too but I also am keeping my guard up until their actions prove that they will stick to their promise. Everyone on this subreddit has experienced devs/publishers making similar promises only to go back on their word slowly over time. An argument keeps coming about as to why we shouldn't be worried and that's because Gamigo has no previous ties to Archeage. Explain to me why that matters? Trion is the ONLY company to publish for NA so this is nothing special. People should be looking into Gamigo's history and the games that they publish are littered with P2W monetizations. They also seem to buy dying games just to milk them out one last time. This is also one of the biggest titles for them to handle so that is a bit concerning. I think the only thing remotely this big that they handled was Rift and that game is considered "dead". I am not saying you shouldn't give them a chance. You should be excited about the opportunity to play a non-p2w version of a game with great potential. I am just saying to not completely let your guard up and submit to empty promises. Many of us have been burned before. If we have learned anything from the past it's that Action speaks louder than words. I hope it all works out in the end. [link] [comments] |
